This class is all about giving your favourite jeans the makeover they deserve. Textile tutor Alice Bowen receives many requests for jeans repairing, so this is your opportunity to learn these techniques yourself. Whether you're dealing with worn-out crotches, need your jeans shortened, or want to patch up the knees, Alice will help you mend them stylishly - both visibly and invisibly. This way, you can showcase your investment and love for your favourite jeans for all to see and admire!
In the workshop, you'll learn how to patch and darn your denim, as well as how to take up a hem. We will also demonstrate the mindful skill of Sashiko stitching, a beautiful technique for mending and reinforcing worn areas of fabric using patches and rows of small running stitches (Sashiko translates to "little stabs").
Simply bring along an item of woven clothing, such as jeans, that needs mending and a sewing kit (we'll have extras for anyone that needs them) and learn some new skills in a friendly, relaxed session.
No previous experience necessary and everyone welcome. Limited spaces so booking is essential. All workshops are held in our colourful space in Easton, Bristol.
