BOOKING MUST BE MADE VIA BEYOND THE MIX HERE
Beyond the Mix Book Club is hosted by Tyesha Nicholson here at BAM Store + Space.
Books are a great way to connect with our history and see life from different perspectives. They let us explore stories we might relate to and show characters navigating their racial identity in real and meaningful ways. Each month, we’ll pick a book that dives into mixed identity - whether it’s a novel, memoir, or nonfiction, whatever the group fancies next! Conversations about race often get stuck in a black-and-white narrative, so we’ll focus on books that explore mixedness in all its complexity. It’ll be a laid-back, open chat where we use the book’s themes to reflect on our own experiences. No spoilers, so even if you haven’t finished the book, you’re still welcome!
